DEPUTY HOUSE LEADER

L?Arche Kilkenny invites applications from suitable candidates for
the above position.

We are currently recruiting a permanent position for a?DEPUTY HOUSE
LEADER to work as part of our House and Community team.

This is a full time permanent position dependent on continued HSE
funding. The applicant must have a minimum of a Fetac /QQI 5 in
healthcare/social care or social care degree.

There is a 6 month probationary period applying to the employment.

JOB PURPOSE & ROLE EXTRACTS (A FULL JOB PURPOSE AND ROLE CAN BE
SUPPLIED ON REQUEST)

1. IN RELATION TO THE CORE MEMBERS: (EXTRACT)

Develop positive affirmative interpersonal relationships with each
Core Member. This is the core foundation of all that we do and all
below follows from that.

* Supporting the Core Members to develop the personal skills enabling
them to take as much responsibility as possible for their own lives.
Ensuring the support of their annual goals.
* Develop positive affirmative interpersonal relationships with each
Core Member.
* Fosters their dignity, self-esteem and encourages their autonomy.
* Ensure that support of the Core member occurs in line with the
HIQA standards.
* Clarifies with the Core Members the life of the house, their
responsibilities in the home, and ensuring that these are understood
and they are encouraged to participate.
* Provides opportunities for growth by supporting choice and helping
and providing information to make their decisions.
* Work with the House Leader to supervise referencing of the Core
Members and makes sure files are kept in a confidential manner.
* Works with he House Leader in the preparation of reports for Core
Members with their family, friends and professionals.
* Ensures that high standards of Health and Safety are maintained in
relation to the following: cleanliness of Core Members rooms ,
adequate clothing, healthy lunches, safety of money.

2. SUPPORTING THE HOUSE LEADER: IN RELATION TO THE ASSISTANTS:
(EXTRACT)

* Ensures that the ethos and values of L?Arche are maintained in
relation to Mission and Identity of L?Arche, relationship building.
* Welcoming new Assistants by explaining the day to day running of
the house, their role and their expectations.
* Enables Assistants are released to attend the Formation and
Training as provided by L?Arche Kilkenny.
* Delegates responsibilities and referencing of the Core Members to
the Assistants, follows up and support them.
* Information on Core Members, community and house information is
passed on to them.
* Manages house Assistant holidays, rest time and rest days.
* Facilitates the Assistants in sharing and expressing their views
in relation to matters within the house.
* Encourage House Assistants to take initiative and to grow.

3. IN RELATION TO THE RESIDENTIAL COORDINATOR/COMMUNITY LEADER:

* When the House Leader is not available, to present a detailed
report of life within the house at the weekly Co-ord Meeting and in
line with HIQA standards.
* Meets regularly with the House Leader for Support and Supervision.
* Informs the House Leader, Residential Coordinator and the
Community Leader of issues arising in the house.

4. IN RELATION TO THE HOUSE: (EXTRACT)

* Maintains the routines and structures of daily life in the home.
* Has a knowledge of all policies and procedures.
* Works with the House Leader to manage the House purse money used
for groceries and expenses.
* Safeguards the Structure and Contents of the house are maintained
in a secure and safe manner and that all equipment is in good working
order.
* Maintains all methods of communication for Assistants and Core
Members so they ae fully informed on the House and Community life.

5. IN RELATION TO THE HOUSE LEADER : (EXTRACT)

* Supports the House Leader in his/her role.
* Shares responsibilities appropriately
* Meets with the House Leader for support and supervision regularly
* Provides Support and Supervision for assistants, if requested by
the house leader.

6. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

* Maintain all documentation in line with HIQA standards.
* Documenting all accidents/incidents.
* Reporting of all accidents/incidents/Doctor and Specialist
attendances.
* Ensure good records are kept
* Proficient IT skills to include Excel and Word
* Fluent English and excellent communication skills.
* Full clean driving licence (minimum 2 years).
